Be Grateful Not Guilty!

by | Article, Finances

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

We should never feel guilty about the blessings we receive from God.  He desires good things for us.

When we go out into the streets to feed the homeless, sometimes new folks come along to help out and it is the first time they are exposed to the dire need.  Quite often they respond like this:

“I feel so guilty that I have a nice home to live in.” or “I need to give away all my belongings to help these poor people.”  One guy even said, “I’m going to give my electric blanket to Goodwill because it isn’t fair that I’m warm when they are so cold.”

My response to them is a resounding, “No!  Be grateful, not guilty for what you have!”  If you give away all your stuff, how on earth can you help anyone?

While we should all be good stewards of our money and goods and not be wasteful, of course, we should be praying for increase so we can help even more people.  If you don’t have anything you become part of the problem not the solution.

God blesses us so we can be a blessing to others, so receive the blessings with gratitude and a guiltless conscience.

Keep the faith!
